Nisos Angistri(Aykistri)
Angistri is the small island lying 4 miles to the west of Aigina and connected to it by the strip of shoal water. Angistri is hilly, with the summit on the eastern side (296m/965ft). It is covered in pine for the most part and supports a small population.
There are two harbours on Angistri, but only Angistri harbour on the NW is suitable for yachts, whereas Skala on the NE side is not.
ANGISTRI
(Miloi, Megalohorio, Saint Georgis)
Approach
A small harbour on the NW corner of Angistri. Care must be taken when approaching the harbour from the Ε because of the reefs and shoal water between Angistri and Nisis Metopi.
By night The entrance is lit F1.G/F1.R.
Mooring
Go stern or bows-to the quay if there is room. More usually you will have to anchor and take a long line to the rough stone breakwater on the NE side. Care is needed of large mooring chains fouling the bottom.
Shelter Local ferries spend the night on the quay, taking up most of the room available. Good shelter except for strong NE-Ε winds when it can get very uncomfortable.
Facilities
Tavernas and cafés at the harbour. Provisions available in Angistri village.
General
Tripper boats run across to here from Aigina in the summer, but the island retains a simplicity and charm of its own. Recently a number of villas have been built on the slopes around the harbour.
